There’s one wildflower that puts on the most dramatic of displays in the UK and that’s the majestic Bluebell.

But if you’ve ever seen a thick hazy carpet of them, you’ll probably have had the thought, ‘They’re called ‘BLUEbells, but actually they look more purple’.

And when you look close up, there’s a real iridescence to that colour too.

So in this video I show you how I colour mixed and layered my watercolour to capture that gorgeous colour (and my beloved dog Dexter makes an appearance too):

If you enjoy the video, and have any Bluebell stories of your own, please let me know in the comments below!

My favourite flower. When we were young my brother picked a bucket full of bluebells for my birthday.. Unfortunately he died 3 weeks ago today so this class will be very special to me. Thank you

I have to say, one of the most beautiful mportant facts in your ‘how to paint a pear’ video was the info on brushes and paints! Never realised that was so very important. Thank you x

    Dearest Ann,
Your Bluebells are very lovely and inspire me also to paint, at the same time, I praise GOD for HIS Divine Creation. Thank you for your tried and effective technique, and sensitive way with HIS nature.

Just brought home your latest book and sat and read ten pages right away. Now I know why the white of the background on my photos looks gray! Thank you soooo much for your info on cameras as I am going to be shopping for a new camera soon.

Hi Anna – I have been watching your videos and enjoy every bit of it. I love the dimensions you give to your painting and the intricate details. I myself paint on silk and create scarves and ponchos. Nevertheless I love watching your videos. Thanks.
