I often notice that people learning to paint watercolour are so afraid of losing their highlights that they don’t get their subjects dark enough for a realistic result.

Which is what makes painting this rich, dark chocolate with its delicious sheen a particular challenge.

In this video I show you my process. The question is: can you watch without succumbing to temptation?

I hope this inspires you to try painting some yummy treats this weekend!

If you enjoyed the video, please leave me a comment below, it makes my day to read them.

Happy painting,

Anna I am jealous of the final shot, making us happy with a chocolate watercolor, which is beautiful, but not just like you have chocolate in your house. Happy Christmas.

I thoroughly enjoyed this short clip of you painting the chocolate pieces. I’m a pastellist rather than water colour artist and still enjoyed your instruction. Thankyou

Oh Anna you are just the most amazing person, woman, artist…I love your work and your whole attitude so much.
You deserve that chocolate after all your hard work.
I always find students struggle with ‘tonal range’ and keep telling them that without a good contrast and variety of tones your painting will lack “drama” and it won’t “pop”, which always makes them laugh.
I think that your strategy of working on your light first and then THE VERY DARKS is an execellent way of saving time…it works very well with the demo of the chocolate.
I always forward your videos to my students so I hope that they will also support you and learn alot.
    Sei la mia preferita!
God Bless you and your team and may you all have a splendid, healthy, prosperous, creative New Year this 2020
    Buon Anno
    Forte abbraccio Angela
